Information Accountability (IA) Campaign

In the month of July 2014, we are running an online Information Accountability (IA) campaign like no other witnessed before.Petition here

What?

The Information Accountability (IA) campaign, serves as a wake-up call to all in positions of authority and are responsible for timely, accurate, reliable, adequate and precise dissemination and action on information at their disposal. Further the IA seeks to inform the leadership and all in positions of authority to be accountable on their utterances and messages to the public.

Who?

The IA will target institutions in public and private sectors (Government, CSOs, Media, Academia) and those in positions of leadership on the need to be IA compliant.

Why are we doing this?

Innocent lives lost, Increased Insecurity, Inadequate Public Participation, Lack of Awareness on resource utilization, Reduced accountability, Destruction of Property, Unresolved Conflicts, Violation of Women`s Rights, Youth Quagmire , Destabilized Nationhood and constant hate-speech messages, Low education standards and illegal skyrocketed fees, and Reduced societal morals among others all point to ignorance of IA compliance.

Where?

The IA will be an offline and online campaign involving use of social media (you-tube, twitter, face-book), podcasts on websites, poll daddy opinion, emails, phone calls and text messages.

When?

The IA officially commences on the 1st to the 22nd of July 2014. Afterwards, the reviews will be compiled, published and disseminated to the relevant institutions and persons.

How?

Anchoring the IA on the Constitution of Kenya 2010 under various articles and chapters including: Article 10 on National Values, Articles 33, 34, 35, 55 on freedom of expression, media freedom, Access to Information, Affirmative Action on the youth and Chapter 6 on Leadership and Integrity among many other provisions gives live to the need for IA compliance:

We will at the initial stage seek partnerships with like-minded institutions to develop a joint roadmap to run the campaign. Those who will have not made a decision by 1st of July will support us along the way.

The IA will run in three phases:

Phase 1- Week One:

This phase will involve a general description on what is means to be IA Compliant and the existing gaps for not embracing IA. Various messaging types and forms will be broadcast using social media and online campaign tools.

Phase 2- Week Two:

This phase will involve sharing feedback on what respondents said in phase 1 and show-casing why we need the IA. Various messaging types and forms will be broadcast using social media and online campaign tools.

Phase 3- Week Three:

It will be demonstrating the advantages of being IA compliant and sharing testimonies of those who will have converted and or promised to be IA compliant. Thanking supporters.

Post IA:

·         Publishing and Disseminating Information- Week 4

·         Contacting Relevant Institutions for Action-Week 4 & 5
