The Research and Business Development team provides support to the core programmes of TACHICOM-KENYA. The Business and Marketing Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Company is well placed/represented within the market niche and that the marketing strategies employed are in conformity with the TACHICOM-KENYA work.


Business and Marketing Manager Job Purpose: 

Responsible for the coordination and execution of all marketing activities, such as, collateral production, advertising and promotional programmes and all efforts required to effectively represent the company and events to customers and stakeholders. Accomplishes business development activities by researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans; implementing sales plans; managing staff.

Overall Job Description

§   Develop and manage the production of events’ marketing collateral and ensuring that deadlines are met

§   Coordination of events’ advertising and promotional programmes

§   Develop and coordinate advertising materials or related communication activities such as media conferences

§   Co-ordinate and management of events

§   Media tracking and tabulation

§   Keep current with marketing trends, innovations, communication techniques and any media regulations

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Achieves marketing and sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Analyzing market trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand.
  • Accomplishes marketing and sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans.
  • Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share.
  • Improves company marketability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; coordinating new product development.
  • Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes marketing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Relationship Management

§   Internal Contacts: Writers and Designers, Information Technology department, Communications, Accounts department and Management team

§   External Contacts: Printers, government agencies, other communications / marketing coordinators, PR and advertising agencies, journalists, business associates, and guests


§   Degree in Marketing Communications / Marketing / Business related subject

§   Good interpersonal and communication skills

§   Excellent command of written and spoken English

§   Good command of written and spoken Mandarin and /or a third language an advantage

§   Effective research and writing skills

§   Initiative, eye for details and a team player

§   Resourceful, flexible and responsive in dealing with people

§   Ability to work under pressure, short deadlines and extra hours if needed on assignments

§   Experience in collateral production, marketing and PR activities, and project management are an advantage

§   Computer skills with proficient in MS Office applications
